Also known as Dona Ana’s Bar, Bar do Gomes pays tribute to its warm and attentive owner, Ana Campos. Located in Rio de Janeiro, the restaurant is a popular lunchtime gathering spot where groups of diners sit closely together, creating a lively and convivial atmosphere.

While waiting for their meals, guests often start with simple garlic toast, a favorite appetizer that keeps the table busy. Among the most popular main dishes is the grilled filet mignon, served with rice, fries, farofa, vinaigrette sauce, and beans. Another highlight is the Oswaldo Aranha–style sirloin steak, generously seasoned with garlic and a classic choice for meat lovers.

One of the restaurant’s most celebrated dishes is Angu do Gomes, a traditional Rio specialty prepared according to the original recipe created by João Gomes. The handwritten instructions, passed down by the creator’s son, are proudly displayed on the wall. The hearty dish features a skillet of creamy polenta topped with rich oxtail ragù, chuck steak, bacon, paio sausage, chicken hearts, and other flavorful cuts.
